Tribal heads of Ashiaman call on Regional Minister

The Ashiaman Stool and tribal heads Council have paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, with the call on him to assist the council retrieve its land from the Freezones board.

The delegation, headed by Togbi Foli Aheto, Ewe Chief and Chairman, also used the occasion to congratulate the minister on his re-appointment as the Greater Accra Regional Minister and to put before government their concerns and problems.

Torgi Aheto noted that the land, located in the north eastern part of Ashiaman, was given to the Free zones Board in 1995 by government, to develop it into residential area but had been left to the mercy of encroachers who are using it for their own businesses.

He said the Ashiaman community was in need of developmental structures such as hospitals, school buildings, markets, libraries, residential bungalows as well as good roads, and would be very grateful if government could revise the CI and give the land back to the community.

Torgbi Aheto urged the Minister to try and negotiate with government on the major problems of the community so that immediate measures could be taken to retrieve the land back.

The delegation later presented one sheep, two bottles of schnapps, one designer batakari, and other accessories to the Regional Minister.

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, assured the council that he would work hard to ensure that the land returned to the lawful owners.

He said government is committed to help solve all land litigation issues that has engulfed most traditional areas in various parts of the country, assuring that all these would soon be a thing of the past.

Nii Agbo, expressed gratitude to the council for recognizing him as well as the gifts, saying, he would forever be grateful for their acknowledgement and support.
