Abuakwa (Ash), April 27, GNA – Three female students (names withheld), who had registered to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Abuakwa Centre ‘A’ in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti, could not do so because they are pregnant.
Mr Robert Yaw Baah, supervisor of the centre, who announced this during a visit of Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, District Chief Executive for the area, said three other male students also failed to write the examination for no reason.
At the Abuakwa Centre ‘B’, Mr Raphael Kojo Amankwaah, the supervisor, disclosed that out of 285 students, who registered to write the examination, only one male candidate could not do so due to non-payment of school fees.
He explained that the parents after they had been contacted claimed to have given the fees to their ward and since the boy had misused the fees, they were not prepared to pay again. Mr Ofori-Donkor was impressed about the serene atmosphere under which the examination was being conducted.
