Thirteen- year-old pupil commits suicide

A 13 year- old pupil of Suhum Anglican Junior High School committed suicide by hanging himself in his mother’s room at Suhum.

The deceased, James Asare, has since been buried after postmortem examination at the Suhum Government Hospital.

According to family spokesperson, on the day of the incident, the deceased had a quarrel with the mother for not washing his plates after eating with them.

His mother threatened to punish him since he is fond of refusing to wash his plates after eating.

The family spokesperson said, the mother then left the deceased in the house to her shop and whilst there the elder brother of the deceased came to inform her that the deceased had hanged himself.

The mother therefore raised the alarm and the people around including the assemblyman for the area, Mr Theophilous Kwabena rushed to the house and sent James to the hospital but he died on the way.

The Suhum police confirmed the incident.
