The Chronicle in a front page story headlined: “Electoral Commission may probe Attorney General’s cache of cash”, says the Electoral Commission has hinted that it may investigate the Attorney-General to ascertain the source and all other relevant circumstances surrounding the acquisition and disbursement of the over 100 million cedis allegedly stolen by two police body guards of the Attorney-General, Dr Obed Asamoah. The paper says if the Attorney-General thought that the prosecution of police officers Fedelix Yebbi and Kwesi Avalifo for allegedly stealing more than 100 million cedis from a cache of currencies alleged to be party funds, was an end in itself then he may be in for another shocker. The Chronicle says the Electoral Commission in an affidavit opposing a writ filed by one Benjamin Josiah seeking to restrain the Commission from appointing any other person apart from the Attorney-General as counsel, the Electoral Commission explained that under the Political Parties Law (PNDC Law 281), it has the power to verify the source of the stolen money.
