Teshie Township to be supplied with potable water – GWCL

Accra, March 16, GNA – The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has initiated a programme to supply potable water to Teshie and its surrounding areas soon.

Under the programme, an abandoned underground water reservoir at Teshie is being rehabilitated and connected to the main pipeline from Tema.

Pumps would then be connected to the underground reservoir, to pump water to an overhead reservoir to supply water to areas that had suffered intermittent water supply.

Mr Samuel Lamptey, Managing Director of the GWCL, announced this on Tuesday when he inspected the project site.

He said the Company would endeavour to provide potable water to the area, adding, “the Company is, therefore, working on the project that is intended to service areas along the coast with water”.

Mr Lamptey said the Company would also reactivate old tanks and pipelines, which were currently not in use. He said the project would take about a month to complete and any delay would be due to repairs of old pipelines.

Mr Lamptey did not disclose the cost of the project and the capacity of the reservoirs.
