TelecomEye launches website for telecommunication sector

Accra, June 22, GNA – TelecomEye Company on Wednesday launched a new website dedicated to providing information on the telecommunication industry in Ghana.

The website 93www.telecomeye.com” is to provide an insight into the industry and afford the general public an avenue to easily access information on their networks.

Mr Ernest Attuquaye-Armah, Deputy Minister of Communication in a speech delivered on his behalf, said the telecommunication industry is huge and needed a website dedicated to it and for the general public to know more about the industry.

He said the Ministry was responsible for building a people centered inclusive and development-oriented information knowledge society where everyone could create, access, utilise and share information.

“The Ministry of Communication is committed to ensuring that the general public receive efficient quality of service from telecom providers and in this regard will be launching the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Ghana from July 1,” he added.

MNP is a process whereby a mobile phone customer might change to a different service provider without changing his original mobile phone. Mr Attuquaye-Armah said customers would only have to visit the shop of a service provider to which they wished to move or port their number, and it would be done for through a centralised systems.

He said the objective of the MNP is to promote consumer choice, enhance completion and improve quality of service.

Mr Stephen Boadu-Appiah Jnr, President of TelecomEye said the website was to educate the media and the general public on its usefulness in comparing mobile telecom operators when the MNP begins.

He said it would help the public to decide, know more and confirm the network they wanted as well as to capture all activities in the telecommunication industry.

TelecomEye operates as an eye into the telecommunication industry in Ghana and provide as much information as available to the general public to enable them to make informed choices in dealing with the industry.

It also serves as a platform by which consumers can make their complaints and suggestions known to other stakeholders in the industry as well as providing credible, reliable and timely information on developments in the telecommunications industry.
