Tamale Chief warns against privatization of Hosp. Lab

The Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Alhassan Dawuni has warned the management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital that no department of the Tamale Teaching Hospital would be outsourced as far as he remains the Tamale Chief.

Tension is currently brewing between management and some senior staff of the Tamale Teaching Hospital over the privatization of the laboratory department of the hospital. Management argues that, they are not making profits from the laboratory department hence the decision to outsource it to a private individual.

It can be recalled that our regional correspondent, Prince Kwame Tamakloe first broke the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem that the senior staff and management are currently in a deadlock over the decision to outsource the department.

A senior member of the hospital, on reason of anonymity in interview with Kwame Tutu said the decision of outsourcing the laboratory is due to poor management, embezzlement and individual interest and not what management has said.

According to Naa Dakpema Alhassan Dawuni, outsourcing the laboratory will deprive the people Tamale what rightfully belongs to them and hamper access to affordable healthcare delivery in the region. He has therefore summoned management to his palace today.
