Talensi-Nabdam citizens appeals for DCE

Tongo (U/E), April 21, GNA- Citizens of the Talensi-Nabdam District in the Upper East Region and members of the Assembly, on Monday appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor to nominate a district chief executive (DCE) for the area.

This they said would help speed up development in the area. A statement issued to the press at Tongo, indicated that the people expressed concern that the assembly had been without a DCE since November 2007.

It said Mrs Agnes Chigabatia, the deputy Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Builsa North, acting as DCE for Talensi-Nabdam, had many other responsibilities and could not devote all her time to the district.

The statement said the district was the only one in the region that did not have a DCE and it was lacking behind in development. It said the district had competent people to occupy DCE position and they were ready to support the President’s nominee to take charge of the area.
