Tafo Clashes: arrested suspects to be screened Friday

The Ashanti Regional Police Command will on Friday screen arrested suspects in connection with the riot at Tafo in Kumasi.

45 persons were arrested by the Police following a swoop in the Zongo Community yesterday Thursday.

They allegedly fired warning shots in renewed clashes in the area.

The Tafo Chief Imam who was purportedly to have incited the Zongo youth to cause mayhem in the area was part of the persons arrested yesterday.

The suspects are undergoing interrogations at the police station, those found culpable will be processed for court.

Meanwhile, leadership of the National Peace Council and the Deputy National Chief Imam will be meeting Tafo traditional authorities and Zongo Chiefs on Friday afternoon.

The Tafo Zongo youth on Wednesday went on rampage destroying public and private properties on sight.

Military and policemen have been stationed at the area to restore calm.
