Suspect arrested in Ecobank manager’s murder

The Ashanti Regional Police Command, has arrested a 20 – year – old man in connection with the robbery and gruesome murder of the Manager of the Abrepo branch of Ecobank, Mr Richard Sallah in Kumasi.

Samuel Boadi, also known as “Bafah” was arrested in his house at Pakyi near Kumasi on Wednesday.

The suspect together with three accomplices, who are currently on the run, broke into the house of the deceased at Ahenema –Kokoben, near Kumasi, took away valuable items such as computers, mobile phones, watches, television and money. They later shot him dead at a close range.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, Regional Police Commander told journalists in Kumasi on Thursday, that Boadi was arrested upon a tip-off.

The suspect took police investigators and journalists to the scene of the crime to demonstrate how the gang broke into the house on that fateful day with a foreign made pistol, a pump action gun, heavy duty cutter and a car jerk.

Boadi told the curious journalists that, they cut the barbed wire, which had not yet been connected to electricity , scaled into the compound and used the car jerk to widen the burglary proof window.

He then scaled through the window and entered a small room, which led to the living room.

The suspect said he opened the living room’s door to allow his accomplices to enter.

He said one of the robbers shot the victim who had then woken up in a close range, when he attempted to remove the mask on his face.

Boadi mentioned the names of his accomplices as Emmanuel Asiedu, who is his brother-in-law, one Alex alias “Tupac” and Yaw.

The search by the police in his room at Pakyi revealed a Compact laptop, one Phantom A+ mobile phone which belonged to the deceased and the wife.

DCOP Kofi Boakye said the police would not relent on its effort to arrest all the accomplices to face justice.
