‘Sudden’ repair work causes heavy traffic on Tema Motorway

There is an unusually heavy traffic on the Tema Motorway as a result of repair works being conducted by the Ghana Highway Authority, our correspondent has noted.

The situation is pretty bad, Josephine Frempong, our Tema correspondent said on Midday Live on Wednesday, March 12.

Motorists commuting from Tema to Accra are said to be hardest hit as engineers are carrying out the repair works on a bridge on that lane.

A small portion of the bridge is said to have caved in, prompting engineers from the Authority to conduct the works.

Efforts by the police to control traffic have hardly helped, our correspondent says.

Motorists have, however, been angered by the situation as some complained to Josephine Frempong they should have been given prior notice.

Some have been in traffic for over three hours, and the engineers are yet to move to site, our correspondent observed.
