Students could be dismissed after final examination

Saltpond (C/R), July 18, GNA – Any student, who misbehaves towards school authorities after writing his or her final examination, could still be dismissed.

Ms Charlotte A. Addo, Headmistress of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, gave the caution at a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting, held at the weekend.

She said students, who misconduct themselves, could be reported to the Board of Governors of the school for a recommendation to be made to the Ministry of Education for the dismissal to be effected.

Ms Addo was commenting on activities of some students of the school, who posted some obscene pictures of themselves on the internet at a get-together, after writing their final examination.

She appealed to parents to advise their wards to comport themselves, in and out of school, in order not to tarnish the hard-won reputation of the school.

The Headmistress advised parents, who send their children outside the country during holidays, to ensure that they reported back before school re-opens.

Madam Joana Dickson, Chairperson of the PTA commended the government for supporting the Association to complete two major projects; the dining and assembly halls.

She said the government’s taking over of the two projects was a great relief for the PTA, which became financially crippled.

Madam Dickson said the PTA was constructing a dormitory for the school and had provided a computer laboratory with internet facility, as well as 60 computers for the laboratory.

She said the PTA plans to build a transit quarters for the tutors. She said the school had established a fund to be invested in lucrative ventures to generate income for use by the PTA.

Madam Dickson said the aim of the investment venture was to minimise or stop the payment of PTA dues.

The PTA Chairperson advised parents to ensure that their wards register with the National Health Insurance Scheme, to enable the school to help them to access healthcare whenever necessary.

Madam Dickson advised the students to use the internet facility to enhance their studies and not for any illegal activities or watching pornographic materials.
