The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has approved a budget of $1,120,000 to fund Ghana’s Black Stars in their crucial final two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Ghana are set to face the Central African Republic in Casablanca on October 8, before returning to the Accra Sports Stadium to host Comoros in what could be a decisive tie.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirmed the budget approval at a press briefing on Monday, stating that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) had submitted its request in line with due process.
“The FA submitted a budget within an acceptable range, and the Ministry did not need to add any comments. The two-match engagement carries a total estimated cost of $1.12 million, broken down as $733,000 for the away game and $387,000 for the home fixture in Accra,” Adams explained.
The funding, already cleared by the Office of the President, is expected to cover travel, accommodation, logistics, and match preparations as the Black Stars aim to secure a place at the global showpiece.
With everything now in place off the pitch, Ghanaian fans will be hoping the black stars can deliver on it and seal qualification for the World Cup.
