The southern part of the country would experience an increase in rainfall frequency, a meteorologist has said.
Mr Michael Padi, a meteorologist at Ghana Meteorological Agency, Accra, told Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Thursday.
“Some areas are even recording five rainy days in a week,” said the meteorologist who added there could however be breaks averaging one to three days, in-between one rainfall and another.
“The passage of a storm such as the one which happened on Wednesday, which occurred over almost the entire southern sector, dampens the area of occurrence.”
Mr Padi said the patterns of the rains are however only over the southern sector of the country.
“The northern sector may experience some occasional rainfall, but that would not be an indication of the rainy season for that sector of the country,” Mr Padi added.
“Actually some places in the north such as Navrongo, are even experiencing dry weather conditions,” he said.
The meteorologist gave a summary of the variation of rainfall intensity for Wednesday as Akim Oda – 81.7 millimeters (mm), Saltpond – 26.8mm, and KIA-12.9mm.
Sefwi Bekwai recorded 51mm, Kumasi-38.1mm and Koforidua-3.7mm.
