South-Dayi Assembly rejects President Mill’s nominee

Kpeve, April 27, GNA – The 17-member South-Dayi District Assembly by 13 votes to four rejected Mrs Grace Perpetual Annan as South-Dayi District Chief Executive. This was after hours of waiting and close door meeting between Mr Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and assembly members.

During the meeting, Mr Afriyie-Ankrah appealed to the members to approve the nomination of Mrs Annan. He explained that the constituency was endowed with many qualified persons who were icons and could lead the people towards socio-economic development but out of them only one could be chosen and President Mills in his wisdom selected Mrs Annan.

Mrs Annan pledged to serve the district well when given the approval and pleaded with members not to disappoint President Mills. Mr Nelson Owusu, Presiding Member urged the members to approve President Mills’ nominee.

Before the meeting, one could sense an atmosphere of unanimity pointing to the rejection of the nominee as members went to and fro consulting each other.
