Ghanaian midfielder Rahim Ibrahim has signed a contract extension with Slovan Bratislava that will keep him at the Slovakian club until the end of the 2029/30 season.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has been rewarded for a strong start to the campaign, having become an increasingly important player for the reigning Slovakian champions in domestic and European competition.
Slovan acted to secure Ibrahim’s future amid reported interest from potential suitors ahead of next summer’s transfer window. The new agreement removes uncertainty over his position at the club and underlines his growing importance to the team.
“Rahim Ibrahim remains at the Blues. The management of SK Slovan Bratislava has agreed with the 25-year-old midfielder to extend his contract until the end of the 2029/30 season,” the club said in an announcement confirming the deal.
Ibrahim has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season and scored twice. His consistent performances have helped establish him as a key member of the Slovan squad after joining from Accra Lions.
The contract extension marks another important step in his development, coming shortly after his first call-up to the Ghana national team.
Ibrahim was selected for Ghana’s opening two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, although he is still waiting to make his senior international debut.
He was included in the Black Stars squad for the recent international break, during which Ghana suffered consecutive defeats by Cote d’Ivoire and The Gambia. Those results left Ghana without a point from their first two Group C fixtures.
Although Ibrahim did not play in either match, his selection reflected the recognition his performances in Europe have received and represented his first involvement with the senior national team.
His new long-term deal gives him stability at club level as he continues to develop his game in Bratislava. Ibrahim will now look to build on his positive start to the season, take on a greater role for Slovan and strengthen his case for a place in Ghana’s starting line-up.
The midfielder’s next objective will be to turn his international recognition into a senior appearance for the Black Stars, while continuing to establish himself at one of Slovakia’s leading clubs.
