Frank Ashie, a.k.a. Gabou, a 35-year old landlord at Madina Nkwantanang who confessed to forcibly having sex with a tenant’s sixteen year old sister, is being held by the Madina police for rape.
A police source told the ADM that on 22nd August 2007 around 7:00am, Ashie was driving a friend’s taxi when he met the victim, who was on her way to vacation classes on foot. He then offered to “drop” the victim at school but when she joined the car, Ashie instead drove her to an uncompleted guest house at Babayara near Ashalley Botwe where he allegedly raped her.
All attempts by the victim to resist proved futile as Ashie tore her panties and forcibly had his way. The victim, in the process, reportedly bit his arm and Ashie, apparently angered by the victim’s demeanour, abandoned her at the guest house and left for home.
The girl reported her ordeal to the police, leading to his arrest.
The suspect, during interrogation, admitted the offence but claimed the victim was his girlfriend. The police are still investigating.
