Senfi (Ash), Aug 1, GNA – The Amansie East District Assembly in collaboration with the chiefs and people of Senfi near Bekwai will next year begin work on the rehabilitation of the local police station which was in a deplorable state of disrepair.
The move is in response to an SOS sent by Mrs Agatha Boateng, assemblywoman for Senfi to the assembly for the rehabilitation of the police station in view of its dilapidated nature.
Mr. Richard Aboagye, the District Chief Executive for Amansie East, disclosed this at the launch of the Senfi Education Fund at Senfi on Sunday.
Mr Aboagye commended the town’s unit committee for initiating the fund and was therefore hopeful that it will facilitate education in the area.
Mrs Boateng said the cell was virtually in ruins, while the ceiling leaked badly which forces the personnel to close when it rains. She said even though the town was connected to the national grid, the station had no electricity neither does it have and form of communication.
The assemblywoman said the unavailability of a detective had compounded the problems facing the station as the three personnel at the station found it difficult effecting arrests and investigating cases and maintaining peace when there was an emergency.
Mrs Aboagye said part of the fund would be used to fully resource the Scott Trade Institute in the town to enhance the training of the youth in vocational skills.
An amount of 5.3 million cedis which, would be used as seed money for the education fund, was realised at the launch.
