Health Minister designate, Alex Segbefia has warned members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) against complacency, saying it could be costly for the party going into 2016 Presidential election.
Alex Segbefia, who was formerly a deputy Chief of State to late President Evans Atta-Mills and the immediate Deputy Defense Minister, suggests that for the NDC to retain power in 2016, the party would largely have to strengthen unity among interest blocs in the party from the constituency level to the national level.
Mr. Segbefia was giving this advice at a special forum and the handing over ceremony for the Ho Nurses Training College chapter of the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC organised under the auspices of the Volta Regional Youth Wing of TEIN.
The event attracted a huge attendance from campuses across the country. According to him, the government has undertaken a lot of infrastructural projects in all sectors of the economy and this should encourage party members to rally together to sell the achievements of the administration to Ghanaians.
He noted that in spite of the massive projects, if the party does not unite to chart a common course, all the benefits would be eroded.
For His part, the NDC National Organiser, Kofi Adams tasked the young ones to read a lot and know the track record of the two parties, adding that the NDC records simply outweighs that of the NPP.
Kofi Adams, who is also the spokesperson for the former President Jerry Rawlings, said in the area of health care delivery, it’s only the NDC government that has phenomenal projects to its credit.
The National Organiser also spoke extensively on the energy situation , assuring that the President is more than committed to fixing the problem
Deputy Regional Minister , Francis Ganyaglo, who also addressed the students, enumerated all the projects the government has so far delivered in the region, including health centres, Secondary schools, tertiary institutions and other social infrastructures.
The new executives were sworn into office by the Regional Youth Organizer, Egypt Kudoto.
Also in attendance were, Ho Central MP, Benjamin Kpodo, DCE for Ketu North, Claver Koffie Lawson, Angela Tay of Afadjato South, James Gunu and Akatsi North DCE.
The rest of the dignitaries, Mathias Alagbo and Suleiman Mumuni, the Deputy Regional Youth Organizers, Hope Nyavedzi, former Deputy Regional Yorth Organizer and Sikii Abibu, also former Deputy Regional Youth Organizer. The Regional Chairman and his team were also in attendance.
