Security man gunned down at Ohwim

Kumasi, Aug. 7, GNA – The murder of a security man at Ohwim near Barekese in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti, the recent in the region has heightened feeli ngs of trepidation and insecurity among residents in the region.

Emmanuel Atiso was gunned down in by a gunman on Monday just two days after the bizarre killing of Mr. Ibrahim Seidu, a 49-year-old employee of the Ghana Water Company Limited in Kumasi. The deceased, an employee of the Peace Security Company in Kumasi was said to have been shot in the right rib when the gunman rushed to the precinct of the Isaac Owusu-Ansah Company Limited, dealers in iron rods and cement.

According to information gathered by the Ghana News Agency, the gunman after killing the security man went into the shop and made away with an unspecified amount of cash. He was said to have vanished into a nearby bush but a five-hour search by the police in Kumasi and Barekese immediately after the incidence proved futile.

Meanwhile, Inspector Yussif Mohammed Tanko of the Public Relations Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed the incident when he was contacted and said investigations into the matter was ongoing.

The body of Atiso has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue. 07 Aug. 07
