Sand winners destroy community in Ga South

Citizens of Kofi Kwei, a farming community in Ga South Municipality, are urgently calling on the government to come to their aid following the destruction of their farmlands by sand winning firms operating in the area.

The Assembly member for the area, Mr Pius Fiakuna, told the GNA in an interview that sand winning in the Ga South Municipality was rampant and was making inhabitants of the area poor and hungry.

“The municipal task force, the police and the mines task force have all failed to clamp down on this wicked act”, he said.

“They come alright but one wonders what they actually come to do” he said and appealed to National Security to intervene in the situation before things got out of hand.
