Residents of the Koforidua in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern Region are still struggling to come to terms with why some unknown thugs from the area will unleash their unbridled libido on a mentally unstable woman.
The mad woman, who it is alleged, was gang-raped by the heartless thugs, suffered severe bruises and was left helpless after series of sexual bouts she received at the hands of her abductors.
Even though the identities of the culprits are yet to be established, residents believe they could be cyber fraudsters and their conduct could be in fulfilment of some money rituals.
Madam Yaa Afrakomah, a trader at the Juaben Serwaa market claimed Awusi was spotted behind the market severely bleeding and was rushed to the Koforidua Regional Hospital for treatment.
According to her, she and her colleagues contributed an amount of GH¢200.00 to pay part of her medical bills.
Yaa Afrakomah said she knew Awusi from Akorabo at Suhum Kroaboa Coaltar some years back and recently saw her roaming the market.
“Although she is mad, she is very helpful and that is the reason why we like having her around,” Yaa Afrakomaa mentioned.
The matter is yet to be reported to the Eastern Regional Police.
