Editor of the Informer Newspaper, Andy Kankam has called on President John Dramani Mahama to relieve presidential staffer, Stan Dogbe and Communication Minister, Edward Omane Boamah of their post.
Andy Kankam speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Friday said, he can´t comprehend why the duo would still be at post following the gaffes in the Independence Day brochure which has disgraced the country internationally.
“This is not an issue of friendship, it’s an issue of principle and we must stop playing the ostrich…he [President] should be concerned about his image…the disgrace has assumed an international dimension so let’s call a spade a spade, the three people must all go,” he said.
Ghanaians and Kenyans took to social media to ridicule the government for the mistakes which also listed Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyata as Ghana’s President.
Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), Francis Kwarteng Arthur who accepted responsibility for the errors has since been fired by the President.
But the Editor of the pro-government newspaper said sacking the ISD boss is not enough punishment for errors that has assumed international dimension.
According to him, since the ISD boss worked in tandem with the Flagstaff House Communication Bureau and the Communications Ministry, it is just not right for the President to sack the ISD boss and leave the two [Stan Dogbe, Omane Boamah] and others to be at post.
“If they worked as a team with Omane Boamah providing supervisory role, then if one is relieved of his post, the other two should not be at post…Stan Dogbe who is a journalist for that matter and Omane Boamah should be sacked…,” he said.
He said he is calling for the sack of his friend, Stan Dogbe because his investigations has revealed that he is the head of the Flagstaff House Communication Bureau.
Andy Kankam further argued that it would be in the interest of President Mahama to sack the two and work on getting the right public image if he seriously wants to win the 2016 elections.
“You can build all the schools. Roads and others but if you have the wrong image, you won’t win the elections…,” he said.
Andy Kankam added that he and several Ghanaians are demanding value for money audit of the brochure produced ‘because Ghana did not get any value from it.’
“Do you think the two former heads of state that came there were happy that this thing happened, certainly not, so they should be sacked and the contract investigated…,” he added.
