Residents of Korle-Abansro appeal for potable water

Residents of Korle-Abansro, a suburb of Koforidua, have appealed to the Government to provide them with potable water.

According to them, there is only one borehole in the area serving a population of over 5,000.

Mr Mumuni Abass, an opinion leader, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said members of the community had been facing water shortage for a very long time and noted that the situation had affected their economic and social lives.

He said since water is very important in ‘our daily activities’, “one can imagine life without water”.

Madam Bertha, a food seller, said it was always difficult for her to prepare food for the market due the water problem, saying the situation was negatively affecting her business.

She said they depended on rain water to survive and now that “We are in the dry season, it has not been easy at all”.
