Remanded KKD applies for bail at High Court

Embattled ace broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) will apply for bail at the Human Rights High Court today after an inferior court denied him one Tuesday.

The CEO of Finest Productions is on remand till January 8, 2015 for allegedly having sex with a 19-year-old girl Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson without her consent.

The incident took place at the African Regent Hotel in Accra last Saturday.

One of his Counsel, Gary Nimako, has revealed to StarrFMonline.com that they will be through with the filing processes Wednesday, but since the High Court is on break, the case will not be heard until January 7.

He insisted that their interest is to seek the freedom of their client.

The 49-year-old popular face of TV denied raping the student, but has agreed to “consensual sex” in the washroom of the plush hotel at the Airport Residential Area.

According to the fact sheet, the 49-year-old accused broadcaster “forcibly had sex with the complainant” after “admiring her height”, hours before a fashion show began at the hotel when they first met.

The victim later reported to the Airport police, and KKD has been behind bars since Saturday.
