Rawlings to address June 4 anniversary on Saturday

Former President Jerry John Rawlings would on Saturday, June 4, address the 37th anniversary of the June 4, 1979 uprising at the Revolution Square in Accra.

The occasion which would be held on the theme: “Revolution, The Hard Road to Democracy,” is expected to draw leading members and cadres of the revolution, as well as sympathisers of the uprising and the public.

The June 4th Revolution or June 4th Uprising was a popular and violent uprising in Ghana in 1979 that arose out of a combination of corruption, bad governance, lack of discipline in the Ghana Armed Forces and frustrations among soldiers and the public.
