Rainstorm causes destruction

Winneba, May 25, GNA – A rainstorm which hit Winneba and its surrounding on Monday morning destroys four canoes beyond repair and ripped off roofings of private building It also affected telecommunication in and around Winneba and Swedru for four days.

Neenyi Kweku Mbir, Apofohene of Winneba who disclosed this to GNA on Tuesday said 10 other canoes were destroyed but could be repaired Nenyi Kweku said the storm that lasted for about an hour damaged the canoes that had been anchored at the beach. He said some buildings at Mari Ghanny Street of Winneba had their roofs ripped off.

A top official of Telecom told the GNA on Thursday that the rainstorm cost extensive damages to the antennal poles for communication at Afransi and Winneba breaking down completely telecommunication to and from Winneba and Swedru He said the company’s engineers worked around the clock to restore communication on Thursday evening.
