Queen mother of Senchi, 71 others granted bail

The queen mother of Senchi Amanfrom, Nana Effah Poakwa II and her son, Odikro Mintah and 70 other suspects involved in the Senchi riot have been granted a police bail.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Eastern Regional Police Command, told the GNA that, the suspects were granted bail at the cost of Gh¢10,000.00 each in addition to one surety each.

He said they are also required to report at the Regional Headquarters in Koforidua for further interrogation.

The 72 suspects were arrested by the Regional Police Command and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) at dawn last Thursday for provocation, causing riot and unlawful assembly at Senchi Amanfrom.

The suspects were mostly from Chorkor, Korle-Gonno, Accra New Town and Dansoman and their ages range between 18 and 34.
