Provide right information to the Police – Commander

Superintendent Jordan Quaye, Keta District Police Commander, has called on Ghanaians to provide the police with correct and valid information to enable them act swiftly on suspected illegal activities in the society.

He made the call on a weekly NCCE radio programme in Keta as part of security awareness measures to safeguard the municipality during the festivities.

Superintendent Jordan Quaye said the police could only serve the public better when citizens feed them with adequate information on suspected criminals and social miscreants.

The platform was created by the NCCE in response to increased criminal activities in homes and work places within the Municipality.

Superintendent Quaye advised community leaders to form community watchdog committees to help them to police the communities.

He also advised the youth, especially the women, to avoid going out and drinking with strangers and urged the public to ensure that there was someone at home when they attend events during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Superintendent Quaye also admonished drivers to be wary of the kind of goods and passengers they carry and report any suspect to the police for immediate action to be taken.

Mr Simon Mawuko, Civic Education Officer of NCCE, urged the public to be conscious of their responsibilities towards the state saying “security issues are shared responsibilities between the people and the police.”

Ms Patience Humali, also a Civic Education Officer (SCEO) of the NCCE, advised parents to accompany their children to places that they may like to visit during the Christmas festivities.

She said it was improper to send the children out to the streets to run errands without adults guarding them.

Ms Humali reminded parents of the need to monitor their children who visit the beaches, lagoons and rivers to swim saying this could help prevent unfortunate incidents in such water bodies.
