The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani has a technology capable of solving Ghana’s energy crisis, its Vice Chancellor said.

Professor Mrs Esi Awuah noted a technological innovation in electrical energy developed by the University can transform the energy sector, but lamented it will take time for Ghanaians to believe in their own.

Speaking at a Hydropower Energy Conference, Prof. Awuah said Africans must prove and show that they are intelligent to solve their own problems.

The conference was under the theme: “Sustaining Hydropower Energy for Economic Growth and Development in West Africa.” It was aimed at creating a platform for experts, stakeholders, decision makers in energy use and development to share and learn new techniques at solving key problems in Hydropower Plants across West Africa.

The acting High Commissioner of Nigeria stated the conference would be able to comb up the challenge and policies for the development of Hydro potentials in West Africa.
