Printer jailed for two years

Accra, June 16, GNA – A circuit tribunal in Accra on Wednesday sentenced Evans Korbina, a printer, to two years’ imprisonment in hard labour for stealing 2.5 million cedis of lotto coupons belonging to Rambell Lotto Club, a private lotto company.

Korbina pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing. The prosecution said the accused is a printer with the Madimax Printing Press, a subsidiary company, that prints lotto coupons for Rambell Lotto Club.

Early on June 13, Korbina asked a security man at the press to help him steal some of the coupons to sell and share the proceeds.

The security man told the operational director of the club who asked him to feign interest while the Police was alerted.

The prosecution said at about 2330 hours on the same day, the accused collected keys of the strong room of the press from the security man and went and collected coupons worth 2.5 million cedis. Immediately he came out with the coupons, policemen who were keeping surveillance arrested him.
