Principal Nursing officer ordained as Pastor

Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, deputy Western Regional Minister has entreated the clergy to lead an exemplary life, saying, “Have genuine love for God’s work, people and the state at large”.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the way some pastors have turned their churches into businesses and “milking their followers very dry and rendering them even poorer”.

This was in a speech read for him at the ordination of a 46-year old Principal Nursing Officer of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Takoradi, Mrs. Angelina Ogyiri-Asare, at the weekend as pastor of the Zion Praise Chapel International at Effia-Kuma in the Western Region.

The ordination service conducted by Reverend Dr. Paul Henry Dsane, Deputy General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, was witnessed by other ministers of the gospel, traditional authorities and some government officials.

The Deputy Minister called for the collaborative efforts of the church in advancing the socio-economic development of the country.

Dr. Dsane said God has a purpose for every believer and therefore directed that Christians must not shun such spiritual calling but pursue it to the latter.

He however spoke against persons who falsely portray themselves as men of God, adding, “It is God who does the calling into the ministry and not for any person to call himself into God’s Ministry”.

The Deputy Superintendent said the pastoral field was not an avenue for people to amass wealth but to serve humanity.

Pastor Mrs. Ogyiri-Asare, wife of Bernard Ogyiri-Asare, founder of the Zion Praise Chapel expressed gratitude to God for how far he has brought her in life.

As part of her pastoral duties, she is expected to counsel would-be couples, motivate young people to lead upright and exemplary lives, educate the women in the church and champion the crusade for a clean environment.
