President Mahama congratulates Akufo-Addo, concedes defeat

President John Dramani Mahama calls flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Akufo-Addo to congratulate him on his victory in the projected results of just ended polls.

The EC reported in the afternoon that only about 210 constituencies have been collated which means final results can’t be declared yet but projections made by the media shows Akufo-Adoo would be the next president of the Republic of Ghana.

NDP’s Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, PPP’s Ndoum and CPP’s Ivor Greenstreet earlier in the day congratulated Akuffo-Addo on his victory. Mahama was the last one to congratulate him after people insisted he concedes defeat.

The declaration of Nana Akufo-Addo as winner of the election brings to an end the era of the ‘John’ presidency which saw John Rawlings, John Kufuor, John Mills and John Mahama all taking their turn as president from 1992 to 2016.

A new dawn has arrived. Nana Akufo-Addo is president elect after several attempts. His first was in 1998 but could not win the party’s primaries because John Kufuor was another stalwart.
