President Kufuor confers with Gyude Bryant

Accra, May 26, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday held closed-door meeting with Mr Charles Gyude Bryant, Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL) at the Castle, Osu. Details of the meeting were not disclosed but they were believed to have centred on the current political and economic situation in Liberia. Observers said it was to afford President Kufuor, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), an opportunity to be abreast with developments in Liberia.

The NTGL took over from a caretaker government of war-torn Liberia under the leadership of President Moses Blah on October 14, 2003. Mr Bryant would preside over the transitional process that would include a general election in October 2005 and the swearing into office of a new government on January 2006.
