President Kufuor briefed on situation in Liberia

Accra, Oct.1, GNA – Mr Charles Gyude Bryant Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL) on Friday paid a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu. Mr Bryant was in Ghana to brief President Kufuor, Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States on the mobilization efforts and the situation in Liberia at a meeting held behind closed doors.

On August 21, 2003 the warring factions – Government of Liberia (GOL), Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD) and Movement for Democracy in Liberia, meeting in Accra, elected Mr Bryant, a Businessman and Chairman of the Liberia Action Party, to head the NTGL. Mr Bryant is presiding over the transitional process that would include a general election in October 2005 and the swearing into office of the new government in January 2006.
