President cuts sod for reconstruction of Oyoko-Bunso road

President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the reconstruction of the 20- kilometer Oyoko-Bunso road under the cocoa road rehabilitation project.

The project is estimated at GHC32,000,000.00.

President Mahama said during the 2012 election campaign, he travelled extensively throughout the Eastern Region and the main demand of the chiefs was the rehabilitation of the roads.

He said he therefore made up his mind to embark on a massive rehabilitation of the roads in the region after winning the elections.

President Mahama said, currently, many road rehabilitation contracts have been awarded in the region and mentioned some of them as Suhum-Apedwa, Apedwa-Kibi-Bonsu Junction road, Suhum-Asamankese road and Nsawam-Asamankese road.

He said, the project forms part of the phase one and two of the cocoa road rehabilitation project and expressed the hope that by the end of the phase five, roads in the region would see much improvement.

The Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere thanked the President for honouring his promise to the chiefs.

Osabarima Boamah Darko, Chief of Kukurantumi urged the President to be brave and go on with his development projects and let nothing detract him from his goals.
