Police To Beef Up Strength

Ghana Police Service will increase its personnel strength from 16,000 to 20,000 by next year.

Mrs. Elizabeth Mills Robertson, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration, disclosed this in Accra yesterday.

She was speaking at a ceremony in which the Ghanaian Community in Sierra Leone donated 10 polytanks to the Police Training School.

According to her, the number of police personnel in the country fell far below the international norm for the population, which was making the work of the police extremely difficult.
