Police searching for self-styled soldier

The Apam Police are looking for a self-styled soldier who allegedly threatened to kill Hon. Isaac Okyere, Assemblyman for Gomoa-Onyadze/Otsew-Jukwa-Bewadze/Mpremem Electoral Area.

The imposter, who claimed to be the special bodyguard of the Gomoa-Onyadzehen, Nana Gurah V, is currently on the run.

A Police spokesman told the Ghana News Agency at Apam that investigations are underway to arrest the imposter for prosecution.

Hon. Isaac Okyere, the Assemblyman confirmed the incident, saying that, it occurred on July 24, 2013.

When contacted, Nana Gurah, however denied the claim made by the self-styled soldier, saying; “I have no bodyguard as claimed by the imposter.”

Commenting on the issue later, Kojo Nkansah, a spokesman for the Onyadze Youth Association (OYA) said, but for the timely intervention by some youth in the town, the Assemblyman would have been brutally assaulted by the imposter.

According to Nkansah, that was not the first time the alleged imposter had threatened to harm innocent and law-abiding citizens in the town.
