Armed police officers on Friday night reportedly stormed the residence of former NPP Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer, Moses Abor, in what sources say was part of a search for outspoken politician and media personality, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as tense, with masked police personnel entering Abor’s home under heavy security presence. Officers are said to have searched the premises extensively, allegedly seeking information or leads that could assist them in locating Abronye DC.
Although no arrests were made, the raid has sparked public concern about the increasing use of such aggressive tactics, especially against individuals perceived to have political connections.
Abronye DC, a known critic and controversial political figure, has been embroiled in several disputes in recent months. His outspoken commentary on governance and corruption has often drawn both support and backlash. The search at Abor’s residence suggests authorities are intensifying efforts to track him down.
The development has already ignited debate on press freedom, political intimidation, and human rights. Some analysts argue that the raid reflects growing tensions between state institutions and political commentators, while others see it as a legitimate attempt to enforce the law.
Civil society groups and media watchdogs are expected to demand clarity from the police regarding the purpose and legality of the operation.
At the time of reporting, the police have not issued an official statement on the raid or provided details of their pursuit of Abronye DC. The incident, however, has heightened public interest in the ongoing standoff between political actors and state authorities.
