The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has postponed the resumption of Parliament indefinitely due to unforeseen circumstances.

Parliament was officially communicated to reconvene on October 14, but the Speaker has deferred the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic until further notice.

“I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,”

The decision comes ahead of the expected consideration of key legislative matters, including the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

A new date for the resumption of parliamentary business will be communicated once the circumstances necessitating the delay are resolved.
