Accra, April 27, GNA – Police on Thursday picked four persons at Quaye Nungua Examination Centre at Nungua for an alleged examination malpractice during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which ended on Friday.
The four are Daniel Akwetey Nyanu and Sarah Ahiable, supervisors at the centre and two candidates whose names have been withheld. The supervisors are in police custody but the two candidates were discharged to finish writing their examinations.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Moses Segu, Commander of Kpeshie District Office of the Ghana Police Service, told the GNA that the four were arrested following information that a pack of papers on Catering “1” and “2” which were written on Thursday had been opened before the examination began.
He said the Catering Paper “1” was intact when checked but the Catering “2” question papers were short by one.
DSP Segu said a girl was found in possession of a prepared answer sheet to the questions of Catering Paper “2” and she identified a boy as the one who gave it to her.
The officer said the two supervisors, Nyanu and Sarah, who were present at the centre were picked together with the two candidates to help the Police in their investigations.
He said investigations would continue to the bottom of the case and the released candidates would also be invited again to help with investigations.
