Police launch manhunt for escaped crime suspect

The Police at Kuntanase in the Bosomtwe District have launched a massive manhunt for a suspect who escaped from police custody.

Desmond Anane, 23, was arrested over the theft of a KIA truck and was to appear in court the day he fled.

Superintendent of Police Benjamin Kwadwo Gyasi, the District Police Commander, told the GNA that Anane escaped on March 15 at about 0800 hours.

He said Anane together with one other suspect were held in a cell at the Kuntanase Police Station and were moved to a secured place to allow for the cleaning of the cell when he escaped through a ventilation hole 24 feet from the ground.

The Commander said no effort would be spared to track him down and bring him to justice.

A police woman who was on duty at the time has been given 10 days to produce the suspect.
