Police find arms dumped at Sampa Lorry Park

Police Superintendent Maama Arhin, Brong Ahafo Regional Crime officer, has appealed to the public with information towards the arrest of suspected armed robbers who dumped some AK47 and G3 arms at the Sampa Lorry Park.

Superintendent Arhin told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in Sunyani, on Wednesday, that the Sampa Police had a tip off that some suspected armed robbers had kept some guns at the lorry park so the Police followed up and retrieved the weapons hidden at the Lorry Park.

However, he said the Police earlier on laid ambush for over two weeks to monitor and arrest anyone who would show up for the weapons, but nobody showed up.

Consequently, the Police eventually took all the guns and sent them to the Regional Police Headquarters, at Sunyani.

Superintendent Arhin said investigations were ongoing to identify the owners of the weapons.

He asked the public to be security conscious and not relent in their duty to inform the police about any suspicious characters in the neighbourhoods to help clamp down on their nefarious activities.
