Police extend deadline for re-registration of weapons

Accra, Oct. 10, GNA – The Police Administration announced on Monday that it has extended the re-registration and examination exercise for those in possession of shotguns, rifles, garden guns and pistols for two months. A statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) David Eklu, Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, said the extension was to enable those unable to present their weapons and two passport-sized photographs for re-registration to do so.

The Police Administration earlier announced a September 30 deadline for re-registration and examination exercise for all those in possession of weapons. Those in possession of shotguns, rifles and garden guns are requested to take them to the nearest District or Regional Police Headquarters while those with pistols are to take them to the CID Headquarters in Accra. The Police Administration advised all those in possession of such weapons to comply with the directive.
