Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew says Ghana were simply “unstoppable” on Wednesday night as they swept aside the Central African Republic with a dominant 5-0 victory in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The emphatic win in Morocco puts Ghana on the brink of their fifth World Cup appearance, needing just one more point to officially book their ticket to the global showpiece.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew himself, Alexander Djiku and Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed a sensational team performance, pushing the Black Stars to 22 points at the top of Group I.
Jordan Ayew, who led by example with a goal and an assist, credited the team’s mentality for the result.
“With the determination and motivation we had today, whoever was on the pitch against us would’ve lost. From the first minute, we were at it,” he said.
He added that team unity was the driving force behind the victory.
“When we scored the first goal, we were all happy, united, and playing as brothers and this is what I want to see. If we keep this commitment and attitude, no one can stop us.”
The Black Stars now return home to face Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, knowing that even a draw would complete their qualification.
With belief soaring and momentum firmly on their side, Ghana’s World Cup dream is now just within reach.
