People of Dawa suffering from water borne diseases

Two boreholes which serve the people of Dawa in the Suhum Municipality broke down two years ago and the people depend on the Densu River.

This has resulted in many people suffering from water borne disease with some having blood in their urine.

Mr Abraham Terkper, the assemblyman for the community, told the GNA that though the people had been educated to boil their water before drinking, few of them comply.

He said he spoke to officials of Community Water and Sanitation Office at Shum for rehabilitation of the boreholes but the amount they were demanding was beyond the means of the community.

He therefore appealed to the Suhum Municipal Assembly to provide the community with new boreholes.
