Over 6,000 service personnel for 2nd National Sanitation Day

Over 6,000 national service personnel are set to be deployed on Saturday, December 6 for the 2nd National Sanitation Day.

A memorandum of understanding was reached on Monday, November 24 between the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), on one hand, and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, on the other hand, for personnel to vigorously take part in, and lead, the exercise.

Speaking on TV3’s News @10 on Monday, NASPA President Vincent Ekow Assafuah Jnr lauded the collaborative efforts of the Scheme and the Ministry, saying personnel will boost massive interest in the nationwide clean-up exercise.

The maiden edition of the exercise was held on Saturday, November 1 and it involved President John Dramani Mahama, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin and several Members of Parliament and ministers of state.

“We want to make sure that we partake in this programme,” Mr Assafuah Jnr said.

He indicated that 400 personnel will be deployed on the Oxford Street in Osu alone.

A get-together after the exercise will take place near the Obra Spot, he hinted.
