Ofoase Ayirebi lawmaker Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has congratulated the New Patriotic Party’s newly elected national executives, while warning that their work is only beginning.
The NPP held its delegates’ conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, where John Boadu was elected national chairman.
Writing on Facebook, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said: “A big congratulations to Chairman John Boadu and all our elected national executives. More work ahead to be done.”
Mr Boadu said he would lead a renewed NPP into the next general elections and pledged that the new leadership would serve the party with humility.
He also promised to work with every branch of the organisation, outlining a broader effort to strengthen the party at national, regional and constituency level.
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected executives, Mr Boadu said: “Our task is to build a renewed NPP, one that listens and consults more. We are going to work closely with regional executives, constituents, external branches, and our MPs led by Afenyo-Markin.”
Daniel Titus Glover was elected National Organiser, while Mavis Hawa Koomson became the party’s national women’s organiser.
Justin Kodua Frimpong retained the position of General Secretary after winning a closely contested internal election with 4486 votes.
Former Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh finished second with 1340 votes. Eugene Boakye Antwi received 162 votes, while Dr Charles Dwamena polled 126.
