Ahmed Usman, a special aide to Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku has stated that he would drag one of the aspiring presidential candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to court, with the aim of ascertaining whether he is eligible to contest for the position.
According to him, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen resigned from the party in 2007 and would want him (Alan) to prove to the court the process he went through to regain his status as a full member; if he has done so.
“I am gathering my information and in my own capacity as a member, I would be testing the constitution of the party in court with regards to the fact that when someone leaves the party and comes back, what criteria does he have to go through in order to qualify to contest as leader of the party because some of us will not sit aloof for others to dismember our party,” he said.
He also expressed disappointment with the former General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Ohene Ntow, who is now the spokesperson for the Alan Kyerematen campaign, for what he describes as his “divisive” demeanour.
Ahmed Usman held strongly that the former NPP Chief Scribe is a liability to Mr Kyeremanten’s Campaign team.
“…when he opens his mouth, he does not sound like someone who has ever served this great party. He is so porous, so divisive, so aggressive and so insulting to the extent that I see him as a disgrace to the NPP,” Ahmed Osman fumed on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia.
The Special Aide to Dr. Apraku, who got 10 votes in the just ended Super Delegates Congress made these comments after Nana Ohene Ntow was reported to have called on members of the ruling party, saying should they nurse interest to join forces with his candidate for victory come October, then they are welcome.
But in a sharp response, Nana Ohene Ntow was of the view that his remarks were taken out of context.
According to him, he rather called on all other political parties in the country to support Alan Kyerematen in annexing power from the NDC in 2016.
Nonetheless, Ahmed Osman maintained that his former Chief Scribe is a divisive character and a liability to Alan Kyerematen.
