Odododiodoo NDC elects new Chairman

Nii Kotei Ashie, Assemblyman for Korle Wonko Electoral Area, was the toast of delegates at the Odododiodoo National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Congress when he stepped down for his opponent, Mr Joseph Otoo, the incumbent.

Just before voting began in what would have been a replay of the last congress to elect executives for the constituency four years ago, Mr Ashie threw in the towel for Mr Otoo and asked the delegates to retain the old executives to continue winning the seat for the NDC.

Mr Space Clottey, an aspiring constituency Chairman whose court injunction held up the congress had earlier withdrawn the lawsuit from the court and from the race.

Miss Iris Bruce Nortey who was contesting for the position of Deputy Youth Organiser also stepped down for the incumbent, Alhaji Nii Alhassan Muzamilu with a promise to help the Youth Organiser and his Deputy to organize the Tamale Youth in the party.

The voting which was conducted by the Electoral Commission and supervised by Regional Executives of the party saw the Chairman since 2001, Mr Daniel Nii Okai losing the position to Mr Paul Oblie Laryea.

Reverend Robert Esmom Otojor, was elected Vice Chairman with Mr Sammy Armah retaining his position as Organiser and Alhaji Ahmed Boye becoming the Deputy Organiser.

Mr Addo Quaynor retained his position as Propaganda Secretary while Miss Mavis Manugbor clinched on to her position as Women’s Organiser, with Miss Patience Amamoo as Deputy Women’s Organiser.

Alhaji Korle Lassey is the new Youth Organiser while Alhaji Ahmed Boateng and Alhaji Isakah Nii Amu were returned unopposed as Treasurer and Deputy.
